It was another really nice night and the skies cleared up for stargazing too.
i was operating Pedestrian Mobile on 10117.5 from 0200z to 0318z (8/8/05).
Thanks to all the guys who stoped by to say hello.
i have a fixed frequency receiver so it is hard to work a lot of stations
like this by just calling CQ or spidering.
Results: at 0200z

Thanks to all...30 meters was great tonight !
It was about 60F after the sun set...It got down to 35F at 2am.
Logging is hard in the dark.. i use a 'cuff log', like a NFL Quarterback.
(Send me a direct request if you want to see a picture of it.)
i was hiking around near Cripple Creek, CO around 9000 feet elevation.
i was using my back pack radio and had a 10 foot whip. i had a 20 foot drag
wire following me. The radio weighs 23 pounds and i was running 50W. The
battery is
a pack of 20 "D" size NiCad's. i just recharge the battery the next day but i
have a hand crank generator too...
i hope you get that old radio on your back and try 30 meters.
Paul (always watching for bears)
