The April 2005 foxhunt is now history. Five teams
gathered at the starting point and were ready to find
that sly creature the instant it became radio active.
At twenty minutes into the hunt all teams were queried
for location and direction to the fox. It appears
that most everyone was trying to not give away their
real location and direction. Were they afraid to
admit their real location or were they just being sly
and devious like a fox?
Helpful clues as to the foxes location were give
starting at one hour into the hunt. Some people may
not have appreciated the first two clues. The clues
were accurate but maybe not very helpful. But, this
was to be intended to be a challenging hunt.
Well, as foxes go there was a decoy fox in this hunt.
Everyone went for the decoy....some more...some less.
The finishing order is as follows. Lowest number of
points wins.
1. Al Penney, VO1NO, Kate Muniz, WB9BAH, Jeremy, No
Call - Total points -- 102.1
2. Mike, K0MLA, Susan, KC0SYA, and children - Total
Points -- 103.9
3. Stephen Leander, KV6O, and children - Total
Points -- 184.6
4. Patrick Kelley, KC0MIR, and Matthew, No Call -
Total Points -- 185.4
5. Dave, N0UVR, Dan, AC0CC, Did not finish due to
family emergency.
Note that Stephen, KV6O, is visiting the area from
California and found our hunt on the website.
After the hunt everyone retired to the Mason Jar
restaurant in Old Colorado City for food, beverage and
and a lot of chatter about the hunt. "Foxy," the
foxhunt trophy was awarded the Al, Kate and Jeremy.
Good work guys!! They have the responsibility to
organize the next hunt.
