We are looking for someone to work as NCS for the EOSS balloon launch.
See Mike's message below for details. This would be needed only during
the flight starting at 8:00 and being done before 10:00 (normally)

Also, see the cross-band repeater information in the email below.

Dan

Hi Dan,

We are planning in flying the crossband repeater this weekend, as we
have on previous JOTA flights. And it's also our custom to arrange
for a net control station to keep traffic moving on this machine.

Since the plan is to set up a full JOTA operation at Meadow Lake, could
you arrange for one of the hams and/or scouts to so NCS? The job would
be to promote QSOs and to log them for the coveted EOSS QSL card, which
we can design with the 2004 JOTA logo embedded.

Note that we just leaned that the 70cm rcvr get a little hard of
hearing on last flight, perhaps when its antenna got jammed in the
70 cm ATV xmtr antenna during a rough descent. Its sensitivity is
down about 20 dB, so it'll take a strong sig on the 445.975 MHz uplink
to hit it once it gets far downrange. The 2m side of all ground
stations should use earphones or be squelched during 70 cm xmit to avoid
feedback. The 147.555 MHz downlink also includes APRS packet bursts
once a minute, in case you want to demo that in parallel with the
EOSS ground station.

BTW, I've not yet found the 2004 JOTA logo, but will seek it out on the
internet if you don't have it.

The EOSS launch and ground station teams plan on arriving at Meadow Lake
at about 0600 to set up for a 0800 launch Sat AM, weather permitting.
Any weather delay decisions will be announced Friday at 8:00 PM during
our preflight net on the CRA 147.225 / 145.16 repeater and on
www.eoss.org.
