Hello all,
Need to let you know about the passing of the wife of one of our long
time members, Marshall Quiat. Jane Quiat passed away in her sleep on
Sunday. Memorial services will be at the Fairmont Cemetery, Ivy Chapel
at 3 p.m. on Friday April 2nd. That's at East Alameda near Quebec.
For those of you who don't know, Marshall has been a past "everything"
with the Denver Radio Club and was our ARRL Rocky Mountain Director for
many years.
Additionally, Marshall was a co-author of PRB-1 while he was
representing us at the ARRL. PRB-1 became an FCC directive (and more)
to states, cities, counties and homeowner groups that the FCC preempts
governmental entities from infringing on the amateur radio operator's
right to put in place reasonable antennas to exercise the privileges of
his or her license. And that a governmental unit may not overrule the
federal government in these matters, barring the operator from putting
antennas on his property. (This is the basic idea of PRB-1).
Marshall means a great deal to the Denver Radio Club and his wife Jane
was his support for many years. We all wish Marshall well in dealing
with this crippling event in his life.
Thanks to Dave Baysinger WGN for the above information.
