The ARRL "Amateur Radio Today" digital video narrated by Walter Cronkite has
been made available to download from a private server.
This 6-minute video is excellent and focuses primarily on the emergency
services aspects of amateur radio. A significant portion is dedicated to
the Hayman Fire. This video is intended primarily to use as an introduction
to new hams and will be an extremely valuable tool for getting our message
across to Emergency Managers, etc. This is the first in a series of
mini-videos on amateur radio being produced by the League.
The file is pretty big, 70Mb, so high speed Internet access is recommended
for download. The ARRL is accepting orders for the CD-ROM on the ARRL
website store, cost is $5 plus S&H (they are taking advance orders, however
they have not yet started shipping). Full information and a link to
purchase the CD is at http://www.arrl.org/news/stories/2003/01/17/3/?nc=1
You can access the file for download at:

My thanks to Kit Haskins, KAWUC, for making his server available!
