Well, I suppose it's time to start getting ready for FYBO. The fun little

FREEZE YOUR BUNS OFF operating event sponsored by the Arizonia ScQRPions!

There's been a fair bit of offline email traffic about various things

related to FYBO, so it's about time to address some of them. These are the

highlights with more detail to come. CAPS are for emphasis only.

WHEN IS IT? This year we'll move it back to February 8. This is about the

original time of the event. It got moved last year to avoid conflicts with

other events. February 8 seems to be a mostly quiet weekend.

OK, HOW LONG? Starts at 1600Z and goes 'til 2400Z. That's high noon

Eastern and 9am Arizonia time no matter what else I said since I'm

Z-challenged. You may see a little different times and dates elsewhere, but

let's try to stick to this one here. :-)

OPERATING CATEGORIES: Single OP, Multi-Single, and new this year,

Multi-Multi! Just like a real contest. The Multi-Multi was suggested by

the NM group which sounds to me a lot like a challenge to the rest of you...

SCORING: Same as usual, EXCEPT there's an extra 100 points for using one of

our little paddles and/or the Class E transmitter kit from last summer.

Best hurry and build them up. W2AGN and a few others are gonna clean up on

this one. This is a shameless reward for your support of the ScQRPions and

Amateur Radio. Similar to the influence peddling scandal in judging one of

our building contests at Ft. Tuthill a couple of years back. You know who

you are.

REPORTING: We'd prefer electronic reporting of your Logs/Summary Sheets.

Forms will be available somewhere soon. They can go to

AzScQRPIONS@@@covad.net (use only one @). This is also where you can ORDER

your BONUS POINT PADDLE KITS!! :-) Sorry, the transmitters are all gone.

You missed a good one.

AWARDS: Have to have awards to sucker you out to suffer in the cold weather

like this. Award details will be coming in January. Paddle kits. Yep, the

paddles. More than one. ScQRPion Logo Pins. There will be a minimum

number of contacts for these. And Certificates.

Things will become more formalized as the days go by. Suggestions are

tolerated. Announcements will come here on the list and there will be a

website as well.

Put us on your calendar! I certainly intend to go out and suffer with you

in the frigid 70F +/- desert. Thanks for your indulgence amd support.
