Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) is nearly here.
JOTA is held annually the 3rd weekend of October. This year the date is
October 19th. More information can be found at:
http://www.arrl.org/FandES/ead/#scout
PPRAA is sponsoring the event at two separate locations:
Meadow Lake Airport (EOSS Launch)
Pauline Memorial Catholic School
See the PDF of the flyer:
http://www.eoss.org/eoss60/JOTA_2002_Flyer.pdf
The EOSS launch will be the launch and monitoring the flight of the balloon.
If you have time, it's a fun activity to get involved with. Check out
http://www.eoss.org for the balloon frequency information and other flight
details.
Then main Amateur Radio show-and-tell setup will be held at Pauline Memorial
Catholic School, just west of the Broadmoor. Since this will be held at the
school, we are inviting the school, their families and the parish to drop by
and check us out.
Currently station plans Include:
AMSAT, APRS, ATV, HF, PSK-31, SSTV, and VHF/UHF
The ARRL web site suggested that SSTV is a really big hit with the scouts.
I do not know anyone working SSTV, but if you do it would sure be nice to
have you along.
We still need equipment and operators for:
APRS, VHF/UHF, and SSTV
The ARRL web site suggested using SSTV, scouts really eat this up last year.
I do not know anyone working SSTV, but if you do it would sure be nice to
have you along.
We have a monitor ATV station allowing reception of the balloon's ATV. It
might be neat to have an additional transceiver station on site as well.
ION-GPS will be teaching about the GPS satellites, their workings and usage.
They will be setting up a GPS orienteering course for the attendees to use.
This is something that may be of interest to more then just the scouts!
Mike (wv7t) is setting up some instructional displays. We are looking for
other displays, any takers or ideas?
