As I mentioned in an e-mail earlier this morning, right after Sid sent out
the msg for Wes, I'm the culprit on this. Actually my daughter caused the
event. It's since been rectifed, so other than a few residual e-mails
floating around out there, there should be nothing more from me. This was a
new virus, and my definition file hadn't been updated. In over 25 years
using computers, I've never had a computer infected with a computer virus.
Until yesterday. I attribute that to experience and knowing what to look
for. The #1 first line of defense is awareness of what's coming in, and
knowing what not to open.
Unfortunately my daughter doesn't have that experience, and she's using this
PC more often these days. Although my daughter had been trained to not open
attachments, for some reason ... she thought the rules didn't apply to this
one. She is being retrained.
Sorry for the trouble caused to Wes (I guess quite a few of the e-mails sent
out by my PC went out with his name on them) and to anyone else affected.

All --
My thanks to Sid for sending the below message out on my behalf while I was
out of town today. Turns out my computer was NOT the culprit -- and the
culprit has been identified and is working on the problem.
This particular nasty little virus picked up an old net report of mine from
the infected computer's inbox, changed my e-mail address to [email protected]
(an address I have never had) and sent it to half the amateur world. My
apologies, but for once I was not the guilty party.
I sincerely hope that everyone's virus scan picked it up, although I'm sure
some didn't. Good reason to not let your guard down -- keep the virus scan
operational and constantly updated.
