Hi all,
Here is a long email begging for help with JOTA. If you can help in any
way, please respond!!
I need a lot of help this year with JOTA. First off, setup at Pauline
Memorial Catholic School starts Friday Oct. 18th evening at 6:00, while the
event starts Saturday Oct 19th at 8:30AM running until 4:00PM.
The EOSS balloon launch at Meadow Lake Airport starts at 8:00AM Saturday
morning Oct. 19th. with the balloon launch scheduled for 9:00AM. We expect
the balloon to be back on the ground around 11:00.
Needed at Pauline Memorial Catholic School:
==========================================
Although HF/SSB could be handled with just one person, 3 people make this
flow a bit easier.
HF - SSB - prep the scouts
HF - SSB - control operator
HF - SSB - Assist with logging
VHF/UHF - Get scouts on-the-air locally. We will be using the Cheyenne
Mountain Repeater (147.345) between the two activities. While the EOSS
balloon is in flight we will want to use the cross-band repeater on the
balloon, so we need a station with cross band capabilities (2m/440cm).
(Note: the 440 PPFMA machine is being used for EOSS balloon recovery with
2m as backup)
APRS - We badly need an APRS station setup at the Pauline Memorial
Catholic School so we can more easily track the flight of the EOSS balloon.
Help with Radio Merit Badge (One boy scout troop will be working on badge
that I know of so far). You do not need to be a merit badge councilor to
help, the councilor only needs to verify the knowledge. What I want to do
is break the merit badge into 4 or 5 parts. I do not plan on covering the
complete merit badge, so if you can take a small part, I can feed you the
information as required in the merit badge book.
EOSS Balloon Launch:
===================
VHF/UHF station so scouts can access the Cheyenne Mountain Repeater
(147.345).
Extra ATV receivers. This way all the scout won't have to crowd into a
single room.
Here is the summary of needs:
============================

HF (8:30AM to 4:00PM) control operator (Extra?) with up to 2 assistants
VHF/UHF (8:30AM to 4:00PM) control operator, rig and antenna
APRS (8:30AM to 11:00AM)
