(Sending this to several reflectors, sorry for any duplications)
Tomorrow night the program for the Pikes Peak Radio Amateur Association
meeting will be a discussion of the wildland fires supported by RACES and
ARES this Spring. The presenters will be Rob Roller (N7LV); Sid White
(K4ARM); Dean Haskins (KA0PII); Mike Allen (N0MIK) and myself. The meeting
is at 7 pm at the El Paso County Health Department Auditorium at 305 South
Union. This is due east of the Veladrome in Memorial Park, just south of
Pikes Peak and Union in Colorado Springs.
For those attending (or even if you aren't able to attend), I will have my
portable repeater, affectionately nicknamed The Roach, set up for display
and demonstration. It will be operational from about 5:30 pm until about 30
minutes after the meeting for those who would like to try it out, use it for
talk-in, ragchew, or whatever feel free to give it a good workout. I will
be curious to see what the range is at that location (although it may be
shadowed a bit to the north and west by the two buildings). It can be set
to one of two frequencies, but tomorrow night we will be using the 146.865-
with 100 Hertz tone required.
For those who would like to program the two Colorado VHF emergency repeater
frequencies into their radios for future reference, they are:
146.865- (my repeater requires a 100 Hz tone and also outputs a 100 Hz tone
for tone-squelch operation)
146.835- (same 100 Hz tone I/O for my repeater)
