The Cavalier Trail Ride is coming up on May 25-26. This is a horse
riding event. The riders must go through the check points at specific
time intervals. Check points will be recording bib numbers, and times.
Then relaying back to net control. Once again it is on the Air Force
Academy grounds. This is a fun event, and challenging. Last year a rider
was thrown off of her horse, and hurt on a difficult part of the course.
With the help operators guiding in medical help she was rescued.
There are still openings on both days. If you are interested let me
know. I have include the general operator equipment below.

4. General Operator Equipment:
a. Dual-Band HT (or separate VHF & UHF Radios)
i. Spare battery packs (12 hour capability - REQUIRED)
ii. Earphone or headset (REQUIRED, ABSOLUTELY NO VOX!!)
iii. Pre-program frequencies (see section 5)
b. Food snacks, water, etc for up to 10 hours. We will have an
approximately 1-hour break on Saturday for lunch.
c. Clothing (layered, prefer forest green or dark colors if possible)
[Brightly colored clothing can startle horses and cause accidents]
i. Cap/hat
ii. Jacket/Raincoat & bad weather gear
iii. Boots, comfortable & suitable for hiking & bad weather
iv. Sunscreen
v. Course Maps - PROVIDED
vi. Compass (OPTIONAL, BUT RECOMMENDED)
vii. Binoculars could be very helpful at some locations
viii. Notepad or clipboard with tablet and pens/pencils.
ix. Portable stool or seat (OPTIONAL)
