Ladies & Gentlemen,
HB 2595 hit a bump in the road at the Rules Committee. They had their
Attorney go through the bill and she issued a 3 page opinion. THAT
OPINION SUPPORTS OUR BILL AND RECOMMENDS LANGUAGE THAT MAKES OUR BILL
EVEN STRONGER!!!
The bill is scheduled to be heard by the Rules Committee on Monday.
This group really only looks to how the law fits with the Arizona
Constitution and other Arizona statutes. Most bills after being
checked like above go through unanimously. I do not expect any
problem.
The Bill will then go to the House Committee of the Whole for a vote
and then on to the Senate. Former State Representative Ted Downing is
now the ARCA lobbyist and he has been advising on the bill and the
process. John Lanza, President of ARCA, has been very active at the
Capital. Ingo Radicke the ARRL State Government representative and Tom
Fagan the ARRL Section Manager have been very helpful. If you see them
at the Hamfest this weekend please thank them for their efforts.
I will miss the hamfest because I must be out campaigning for
re-election as Mayor of Page. The primary is Tuesday, March 13th, so I
will be out walking the neighborhoods with doorhangers to get out the
vote.
We will keep you informed on how HB2595 is doing and when we will need
to make our push in the Senate.
Thank you all for all your help, emails, and calls to our legislators -
it is making a big difference.
Best Wishes,
Dan Brown
Mayor
City of Page
