You are invited to take part in a nationwide special event---SKYWARN
Recognition Day!
SKYWARN Recognition Day (SRD) was developed in 1999 by the National
Weather Service and the American Radio Relay League. It celebrates the
contributions that volunteer radio operators make to the NWS. During
this 24 hour period, ham radio operators visit NWS offices and contact
other operators around the country, and around the world. People with
an interest in learning about SKYWARN and learning about ham radio are
also welcome!
This year, SRD begins at 0000 UTC on December 6, or 5 PM MST, Friday
December 5th..
Over the next few weeks, I will be planning all the details for our
local NWS Forecast Office located in the SRP building in Tempe. Each
hour during the 24 hours, we expect to have at least one ham radio
operator making calls using the call sign WX7PHX, Visitors to the SRP
building will need to check in with the receptionist in the front lobby.
All the details of this year' s SKYWARN Recognition Day are in
http://hamradio.noaa.gov .
Please contact me at [email protected] if you would like to
be a part of SRD-03!
Thank You!
