To those of you who attended the SKYWARN class in Mesa on Saturday
---Thank You for taking the time and making the trip to East Mesa. I
also want to thank all the City of Mesa employees who helped in various
ways to provide for such a beautiful facility...and making David Runyan
and I feel "at home." It was an excellent place to have our class.
This was one of the largest spotter-training classes we have ever had.
There were over 80 people in attendance, including veteran spotters and
chasers, as well as many first-time spotters who received NWS brochures
and information. At least three different counties were represented,
with the vast majority of the spotters residing here in Maricopa County.
I was impressed by all the excellent questions during the class. The
interest was certainly there ---now all we need is some weather to
watch! If you have any further questions, please contact me
DIRECTLY(do NOT reply to this post).
My office number is 602-275-7002 ext 537 and my email is
[email protected]. Or contact David Runyan at the same number,
ext 223. Amateur radio operators can also tune into, and participate
in, our weekly SKYWARN nets,
as mentioned in our web site,
www.wrh.noaa.gov/Phoenix/general/skywarn
The critical mission of warning the public of severe weather is often
based upon reports from spotters like you, who provide the necessary
"ground truth" information BEFORE, DURING, and AFTER the event
actually occurs.
Thank You.
