We conducted a short test today of the dual-band ham radio here at WFO
Phoenix.
This is the radio that is normally used for Skywarn activations during
severe weather in or near our County Warning Area(CWA).

The test was held on the CALZONA link frequency of 146.68mhz, using
the repeater on Smith Peak. We were able to connect with the Skywarn
coordinator in San Diego(his actual location was Chula Vista) and both
signals were
"loud and clear".

This system has again proven to be a strong link into Southeast
California. We have monitored spotters in various counties, including
Imperial, Riverside, as well as San Diego. Spotters in Yuma can also
access this link by using a nearby repeater near them. Any comments
or suggestions are welcome, to help prepare for a better response
system BEFORE our convective season gets underway.

Thank You
