The National Weather Service Office in Phoenix will once again take part
in the Skywarn Recognition Day(SRD) in early December. In past years,
this was
a fun time. We had a chance to meet others, and learn more about the
NWS
mission in warning the public of possible deadly storms. .
Volunteer spotters around our County Warning Area (CWA) as well as
potential new spotters, are welcome to come into our WFO and talk to
other spotters around the country, as well as other WFO's. We will
have
2 radios, including an HF rig and a dual-band radio, making contacts
to recognize the efforts of spotters who report severe weather.
SRD will run from 5 pm Friday Dec 6 THROUGH 5 pm Sat. Dec 7.
Announcements will also be made on our weekly Skywarn General
Information nets. Tune in to 146.74 mhz at 8 pm Tuesdays or
listen to 442.800 mhz at 8 pm Wednesdays. If you are not a ham,
you are also welcome to come in and take part in SRD 2002.
Additional information is available at http://hamradio.noaa.gov
We hope to have a good attendance, so if you care to participate
in any way, before/during/after the SRD, please
contact me. Rather than replying to this posting, please
call me at 602-275-7002 or email.... [email protected].
