SV: [PCR-1000] still power on problem (SOLVED!!!)

This is common problem when using non-grounded outlets for the PC.
The powersupply in the PC has capacitors between the two main 
branches (live and neutral) and the chassie (called Y-capacitors).
This will make a voltage divider of the mains voltage between the
live and neutral connector, making the chassie to float at half
the mains voltage, eg. 115V in a 230V system. The current is not
high, maybe 1-2 mA or so but the voltage makes small sparks and noice 
when touching the serial connector from the radio with the PC chassie.

As you can understand this can easy damage the serial interface in 
both radio and PC, and it´s always wise to use grounded outlets for all 
PC-equipment.
This has nothing to do with using different outlets for radio and computer,
if so you have a serious problem in the powersupply for the radio, not with
the
installation in the house. There is always full isolation between AC and DC
in 
theese poweradapters (class II), but the supply inside a computer is another
issue. 
This is because it´s a class I unit and is supposed to be used with grounded

outlets only.

thats really possible!
i live in a cheap rented appartement, because i'm studying (and poor ;)  )
the electrical installation is from the 1960's...
