[PCR-1000] When can we expect the NEW PCR1000?

What he said. The R75 is a darned good receiver, epecially when
you consider that anything better will cost you at least twice
the money. I used to sing a different tune back when I first got
my R75. At that time, the most bang for the buck was the R8A (later
the R8B). But, the price of the R8B went way up and the price of
the R75 went way down. Of course, now the R8B is history and there
aren't all that many other good receivers, so the R75 is a good 
choice. The only things I really find lacking are a 4khz filter for
AM and synchronous detection that works. The filter can be added
and I think there are mods for the sync detect, or one can just use
the SSB modes as a substitute.

The Rochester (NY) hamfest had the same rumours about ICOM, plus tons of
negative comments about their mind-set in dealing with their customers.

Outside of the lone PCR-1000 everything in my shack is Yaesu, and has
been
since the early 70's.  Yaesu has always given me (and others) terrific
support even on some very old gear.

I will probably off-load my PCR shortly, as I just ordered the Yaesu
VR-5000
rcvr (fully optioned).
