although it refers to ver 2.8 it may give you some guidance for earlier
versions of the software. I have the UC310 and have no problem with Win
XP Pro although my PCR usually sits on a serial port on my desktop
rather than the laptop.

A slightly more expensive but very robust solution to this is a PCMCIA
serial i/ocard

I use a dual serial card from "Socket" - although I had difficulty
finding
their website this morning - was www.socketcom.com
Brilliant fast product - no issues at all with connectivity to my PCR100
