Well, you used Microsoft's Windows that isn't ICOM software... ;)

To be serious for a moment, from this list I understand that the answer you 
got is the common official answer from ICOM America. I live on the other 
side of the pond, so I fortunately deal with other people.

I my case the unit I bought was old, so I could not claim a free 
realignment in any case. Else I'm quite sure I would have got it, the 
company I deal with isn't cheap but have a very reputation regarding how 
they treat their customers. I got the radio working good enough with 
"generic" EEPROM contents from the web, but any day when there is nothing 
else to do I'll spend a few hours to realign it.
