Hi Max
Seems like an interesting project maybe it is possible to use the CPU
for faster spectrum scanning maybe adding FFT conversions with higher
number of groups. Maybe improving the active signal detection.=20
Would love to help you with it

Oh dear, I seem to have rattled your cage, somehow.

If the subject is beyond your grasp, then OK, but don't assume that
modern
electronics is a closed book to everyone else in the group. Were you
aware
that radio amateurs have been modifying commercial and military
equipment
for donkey's years? Or even designed and built very sophisticated kit
from
scratch? Do you think there's some special magic to using
microcontrollers,
that only the frightfully clever chaps at Icom can understand? Or is
"can't
do" just your attitude to life in general?

Next time you're pressing the buttons on your mysterious box of
electronic
wonders, just remind yourself that it was designed by quite ordinary
engineers. If you wish to regard them as having vastly superior mental
gifts
to yourself, then that's entirely up to you.
