Have you tried to talk to ScannerMaster to ask them to modify the
code in their Smartlink PIC board for the BC245/780 to instead send
pcr1000 commands? It's only a small code change for them as they have
all the hardware ready to be used.

But I guess that there wouldn't be enough units that could be sold
that would justify the development costs.
