A great many people very kindly responded directly, and I thank them
all.

Now I get to find a serial library that will work on my Tungsten T3.

Once I found that the serial library that came stock
on the i705, Viix, and III, isn't included in the base code for the
Tungsten series devices, I went looking for something that would
at least let me light up the radio-controller code, and appear to
have found something that the controller code recognizes as a serial
library.

But at this point both Rich Gopstein's PCR-1000 program and
the original PCRPilot time out, telling me that there's nothing
responding to the attempts to communicate.

It may be time to get out the breakout box. Meanwhile, can someone
tell me the settings that work for talking to a PCR-1000:

Speed,
bits/character,
XON/XOFF,
CTS/RTS?

Thanks very much. I'll get this critter on the air again, and post a
summary of what I did to get it to talk with a Tungsten.
