Targus offers a very nice DC adapter for Notebooks with tips for almost any
Notebook built. A bit expensive but work very well. Have one for my 19 volt
sony and one for the Libretto. A DC adapter from RadioShack for the ICOM
with PROBE1K and you have one heck of a mobile rig.

Sony and Toshiba do offer new palmtop computers the size of the Libretto but
for Japan only and around $1700. I don't think HP builds anything like the
HP100/200 machines anymore but certainly wish they did. I was using the HP
and PROBE for the Opto boards and Radio Shack scanners when they were the
hottest thing going.

While traveling you can do a bit of preplanning and create banks of
frequencies for the areas you will be traveling thru and just open the banks
that you need for the area you are in. With the almost unlimited banks with
PROBE1K you have plenty of room. The excellent receiver of the ICOM PCR1000
would allow either a glassmount or magnetmount antenna and you would be
ready to go. With the exception of Trunked systems you will be able to
monitor most of the events in your areas of travel and have a bit of
advanced warning of any traffic problems.
