[PCR-1000] Used Palmtops for PROBE1K

  Those Toshiba Librettos are fine little machines.
  I've purchased three through Ebay last year. I ended up
getting the CT-110; they use the 233 MHz MMX cpu, can (should)
be upgraded to 64 MB(max) RAM. (also Ebay). But be sure you
get a 'port expander' (most do have them) or a 'docking station'.
The p.e. gives you a VGA, Serial (needed), mouse/keyboard (PS/2)
and a printer port. The docking station, (more than a bit larger)
gives the above, plus: separate mouse/keyboard ports, a USB port,
and three additional PMICA card slots to the two slots in a bare
CT-110. I use an ethernet pmica card or the usb card and an ethernet/
usb adapter. I have also run the PCR-1000's audio through the sound
card, but the speaker isn't quite large enough to fill a room.
  Beware of 3/32" phone plugs, both in and out.
  The floppy drive and cd-rom drive use a pcima port with short cable.
The CD was optional, two out of three came with one, the third one
came with a USB cd/rw (and docking station). As I guide, I had to go to
$550, for a fairly complete package. All three now have Win ME.
  I tell people they are the size of a VHS tape. In actuality, the dimensions
are within 1 inch of a tape.

P.S. I enjoyed the Librettos so much I selected a Toshiba Satellite Pro as
my 'big laptop'.
