  The update I spoke about was obtained via the WinXP "Windows update" site 
not Prolific's.However,I see from another's post,Prolific may indeed have a 
driver available that may help.

  For those who own a serial bridge & not know,like me,what chipset it 
has,have a look at your "system info" utility "msinfo32.exe".Should be 
under componets -> usb.
