[PCR-1000] PCR1000-LapTop-WinXP

  Well I finally was able to get my pcr1000 to work with my lap-top p/c,a 
Sony GR370 running WinXP.The GR370 is a P-3 (1.13ghz) that does not have 
any serial ports.I purchased a USB to serial bridge (it has Prolific 
chipset) a'while back but could not get pcr1000 software to run properly.It 
would run then stop then run jerky and/or real slooow.I downloaded a WinXP 
USB driver update a few days ago but did not try the pcr1000 again until 
yesterday (10-13-03).

  Now all is well.I left pcr1000 running/scanning over-night with no 
problems.I did try the TalkPCR pgm once last year,on my Win98SE p/c, but 
the software/pcr starting acting strange so I went right back to Icom's 
pgm.It works fine for my need's anyway.

  I thought it may help anyone who may have tried the USB to serial bridge 
route & had problems.
