Pro, XP home and XP pro and it has always worked perfect...
for the last 3 years Just make sure you DL the latest drivers
from Belkin.

I've had good results using a usb-to-serial adapter that
use's the
Prolific chipset.
http://www.prolific.com.tw/fr_products.htm
I've heard that the Belkin adapters have not been very good
at all when
they are used for controlling radios via a p/c.However I've
not had
personal experience with Belkin adapters.
I had problems with my Prolific adapter when I first tried
it,using it
with WinXP NOT Win98,but found an updated USB device file at
the WinXP
"Windows Update" site.It now works just fine with the Icom
software/PCR1000.
I have no idea if this combination of
adapter/software/hardware would
work for you in Win98 OS but it's certainly worth a try as
these adapters
are not very expensive. You did not mention what version of
Win98 you
have.If you are not using Win98SE (2nd edition) then I would
strongly
advise you to upgrade. You also did not mention where you are
located so I
could not include any links where you could buy a Prolific
chipset
adapter.However this link,
http://www.usbserial.com/ ,is the one that got me started in
my quest.
