[PCR-1000] OT: ME and swapping

I dont get this... and i know that i am a "nag" about this mem-issue with
windows ME. I have a lot of friends with ME, that actually have a
working system, with no problems. All of them reported that the main
issue that needs to be done in a ME system is to max the virtual RAM.
That is to set the swap mem to 1Gb or so...
I dont know why the ME system wont just do the setting itself (like XP)
and i have not had any problems what so ever with my XP system or my
old 2000 system. I just dont understand why micro$oft would make such
a crap system and not fix it with a patch or something.
Now, have you all tried to do the virtual mem thing?
I know that when i did that with win 2000 i did get a boost in performance,
and i know that this is the case with ME.
Just want your experiences.
