[PCR-1000] Aireal hight

I just had a similar experience with my discone antenna. It wasn't all that
high in it's original position. I moved it so it would reach a different
room. The new location was lower but the difference in reception was
astounding. I have to think that atmospheric conditions may have  had
something to do with it. Also, in it's new position I taped it to a metal
vent pipe (a quick temporary mount) and I am wondering if it took a good
ground from the vent pipe?. The mast is a 10 foot piece of copper pipe and
it wasn't grounded in it's original location.  One more thing-I connected it
to an Icom 2720H and had good reception. I then tried it with my PCR1000 and
had far less results.  The comparison was made in the VHF band.
