[PCR-1000] Sudden deaf

A balun? I think that is what generally protects most TVs
that use outside antennas. Most lightning damage I've heard
of lately (since most use CABLE TV) is modem damage, since
the telephone (analog telephone) uses 600 ohm Balanced line
and the first place that line finds ground is the modem.
Digital phone service (like what is going around the US)
is protected by the unbalanced coaxial cable.
 Of course, disconnecting the antenna when not in use is 
the best bet, and using an indoor antenna is a bit safer.

No thunderstorm the night it went deaf, but there might have
some static charges on the antennas anyway. My PCR is now
sendt to the repair shop, now I wait and see what they
find out.
