You guys complain!!  We've got what we call in Australia TV Ch 3 on 138 MHz,
nothing like a couple of MWatts of video on a huge hill to kill Wxsat
pictures.

POCSAG is FSK i.e. "Frequency Shift Keying".  So instead of audio modulating
the carrier the carrier is moved (shifted) either side of the carrier (I
know all FM is shifting the freq but lets not go into pre/dephasis!).  Makes
very nice square waves when you look at it.  The norm is shift the carrier
4.5KHz up for a 1 and 4.5 KHz down for a 0 and they come in 512 Bits/Sec and
1200 Bits/Sec flavours.  Flex is a different animal and we only have one
service in VK and it's encrypted.  That's why the paket output is better no
audio filtering.  Also in VK these things are on 148 MHz to150 MHz and run 1
KWatt ERP.  That's usually a 100 watt transmitter and 9 dB antenna.  Makes
the 2 metre Ham band a nightmare!!!
