persons subscribed to this List are on slow dial-up connections, and that
quite a few of Us (especially in Europe and other locations outside the
US..) pay for that connection by the Byte, or pay for expensive measured
phone service.

  And one or two of us are using ASCII-only mail clients - in my case,
Pine under a Unix shell account.

  FOLKS!!!  TRIM YOUR REPLIES PLEASE!!  I already read the several nested
messages that several of you've included, several times now...  it's the
Same Old Thing with each new batch of subscribers....  200-line masses of
stale message text with a single sentence prepended to it...

   This is basic Internet politeness and really shouldn't have to be
