you should have signal for about 8-10 minutes on an overhead pass...a 
successful reception is only a part of the continuous broadcast of the 
satellite...

I would say a lockon might take 15 seconds then the picture starts to 
generate before your eyes...2 minutes might be 4" of vertical height on your 
picture, 10 minutes might give you an entire scan from Cuba to Hudson Bay 
which might be 14" of vertical height (at least that is what I get on the 
East Coast)
