[PCR-1000] Help, Aerial issue?

A horizontal dipole will be a bit immune to some man-made electrical noise
that the vertical (the pole?) will pickup.
Antennas of different polarizations loose a bit of signal strength between
them over short ranges... but not after a bounce in the atmosphere (hop)
that seems to mix the polarization anyway.
Are the antennas of proper length for the bands being sought after ?
