[PCR-1000] Has anyone disassembled the Stock antenna?

It is a piece of 'real coax', just that it's NOT a low loss type....

It appears to be the equivalent of RG-174... which is fine for reception and
using only short runs of cable.  Cable loss is speced in db / 100', so a
very short run (6') of even high loss cable will nit have much real loss.

I use RG-174 for some temporary mag-mount antennas for Amateur, GMRS, and
GPS - with only 6' cable runs and they work just fine right up to 470mHz...

For 'weak signal' work, like qrp cw, GPS, SWL, or even satcom, where you
will have coax lengths of over 10' or so, you definitely want to eliminate
every bit of signal loss that you can as the signals themselves are
relatively weak to begin with.  If you have the space and the ability to use
a lower loss coax (and the $$) then by all means do so.
