Interesting.  I looked at Page 1 and noticed they plugged the speaker
into the TNC jack...
I thought there had been a major revision since my unit!!

I have used mine with the computer by just plugging the cable from the
sound card into the
speaker outlet and all seems to work fine.  When I unplug it, I hear the
speaker.  

I had not worried about the line level option but that just goes to show
it does pay to RTFM.
