Right now, the temperature will be somewhere near -25 to -30 C, and
the ice will be about 1.5 metres thick most places; where the water is
still, it will be closer to 2 metres thick.
The cottage is *not* insulated at all. The exterior walls are 1.5
cm thick tongue-and-groove boards nailed into uprights. It is a
solid structure that was built in 1921, but it is not suitable for
year-round habitation.
Besides, our Cottagers' Association dues include a year-round
caretaker to monitor the condition of the property and to call us if
anything goes wrong.
