A coil is a good idea, the problem is that the voltages being protected from
are changing extremely rapidly, in the order of nanoseconds to microseconds,
so the coil inductance would have to be extremely small. This would best be
realised by a copper strap. Not useful at all. If the inductance was too
high, it would exacerbate the condition trying to be protetcted against,
rather than protect.
