Thought these variations were just due to the points where the
different front end filters cut in? - refer pcr-1000 service manual.

Eduardo sent me the trace. I get something similar to
this with mine, but I would need to check it to see
what frequencies the transitions occur at.
I wonder if what we are seeing is a software artifact
where Icom are appling an S meter correction to correct
for sensitivity. We would expect to see this at some
frequency because the definition of S9 is different
in a VHF vs HF receiver.
What needs to be done is to do a test of minimum
discernable signal either side of the transition
and see if this corresponds to the change in reported
signal level.
That will allow us to distinguish between a real
change in sensitivity and a measurement artifact.
