[PCR-1000] HIGH / LOW s/n

It was interesting so see some relatively low s/n units purchased in the
last two years.  It's OK -- there is no 'expiration-date' on radios.

It's probable that Icom did not start SELLING with s/n 00001.  Most
manufactures don't want early adopters to feel that they are being guinea
pigs.  It's Likely that the first units (s/n 0001 thru ?????) were
development, engineering test, trade show promos, demo, and possibly dealer
samples.

That's just a bit shy of 10,000 units.    My guess?? .... Icom feels this
product was NOT a 'home-run'.  As an example, getting their General Aviation
(GA - non-airline - including singles, twins, helos, and corporate jets)
handheld nav/comm in the hands of 5% of the US pilots, would total about
35,000 units.  Getting their aircraft mounted comm in 5% of the US fleet
would total 13,000 units.  Worldwide GA (incl. USA) would total about double
of each.

Could the market numbers be the source of Icom's apparent indifference ?
