[PCR-1000] 900 Mhz Cordless freq??

Is your phone a true 'digital phone' -- not a digital answering machine, but
a digital phone ?

If it is digital, you won't hear it on your scanner (or PCR1000) as there is
no voice modulation.  You would need the phone manufacturers digital demod
device and software (i,e,; digital modem) to listen in.

Sometimes you have to read the MANUFACTURER's literature VERRRY carefully to
determine what's digital and what's analog.  The retailers are typically not
knowledgeable and/or assume a generally technically illiterate customer
base.  A lot of phone manufacturers say '900 MHz with digital answering
machine' - that is NOT a digital phone, but an analog phone with a digital
(tapeless) answering machine.

Tread carefully as listening to cordless phones may be a violation of your
Canadian wiretap laws - it is generally illegal in the US to listen to
either cellular or cordless phones.  Of course the laws were made when all
the cordless and cellular systems were analog.  Sort of a moot point today
with mostly digital and digital/spread spectrum/frequency hopping
capabilities available in newer cell phones and cordless phones costing
$100USD or less.

Some of the 2.4GHz cordless phones rival advanced cell phones in
capability - some even include a handset-to-handset walkie-talkie function.
I went hunting last year with someone who brought along a pair of 2,4GHz
Sony cordless phones.  His 100mw cordless phones worked as well (in
walkie-talkie mode) as my 500mw FRS radios.
