[PCR-1000] PCR1000 Windows XP

I am not sure if it could be set up for dual boot or not, surpringsly, I
had a friends Windows NT 4.0 machine and the Icom software works perfectly
on it.  They just made so many megabytes of changes in Windows XP trying to
force people to buy more new applications software and that is what I hate,
they could have maintained some "backward" compatibility but they chose to
make massive changes, some of which there was no need at all.

I agree that Icom is culpable but for my money it is 80% Microsoft's fault.

Again I am NOT a "fan" of TalkPCR.  I realize most folks on this list think
it is the best thing since sliced bread and I tried it.  It does work with
Windows XP but first it blew a scan list I had taken a lot of time to build
and then I could never get it registered.  I don't like the way the
"spectrum analyzer" works, I much prefer the "bandscope" function of the
good old Icom software.  Further, the links to the US site that was
supposed to be handling the money for the English gentleman that wrote it
would not work so I abandoned it and removed it from my XP machine.

I so much enjoyed the wideband receiver and may deactivate it, put it in
storage somewhere until I can afford to buy a used Windows 95 machine just
to control the receiver.

Sign me, "Used to Enjoy my PCR1000".
