I do not think it is a great idea to load the contents of another radio
to yours.  The EEPROM contains calibration data.  It directly effects
the receivers ability to tune correctly, and defines the receivers
sensitivity in all bands.  If you have a receiver that is, by nature,
calibrated differently, and maybe in the upper tolerances of the freq
synthesizer, and load cal data from a receiver a couple of serial
numbers up or down, maybe at the lower end of the tolerance, what you
have is a receiver that is miscalibrated.  Not necessarily the best mode
to operate in.

There have been quite a few discussions on the serial numbers of the
PCR1K and the contents of the software.
I therefore propose that someone (I would be willing to do it) collects
a database of PROM contents, so people can try to load the contents from
a s/n nearby.
It would of course require that the same back-up routine is used, e.g.
TalkPCR

If nobody else is interested in fulfilling this function, copies can be
sent to [email protected] directly, giving s/n and backup-program name'
