[PCR-1000] Talk PCR

Talk PCR is a great program. Registration is dirt cheap compared to
other control programs.

A WORD TO THE WISE: BACKUP YOUR EEPROM ! Do it any way that is
available, and preferably by two. Talk PCR has this function, also
PCR1000BUR and SavePCR1000. I did corrupt my EEPROM thanks to Bonitos'
Radio COM 5 ( BUYER BEWARE ). A week and 150.00USD + postage. Not
fun.

Most of the 'backup' programs have a RESTORE function -- otherwise it
wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to bother backing up the eeprom, even
as
you surmise.

TalkPCR will NOT EVER screw up your radio. It ALSO has a eeprom
management
function. TalkPCR is one of the best programs ever written for radio
control and the latest beta version has frequency management skills that
are
better than most. And I do HAVE most of the programs. Not only is
TalkPCR
a great program, but Pete Mahy is one of the best at helping people out
when
they get 'confused' about getting set up. Just do it -- it is almost
completely self-installing. Get your download and get it REGISTERED --
you
won't be sorry. Vic Culver

I have two questions for the group.

1. I've seen a dos program that will back up the EPROM on the PCR.
Although
I've also read that the only way to repair the problems with the EPROM
is to
send it to ICOM....if this is the case, what is the point of backing up
the
EPROM.

2. I'd like to use the TAlkPCR program (I think that's the name of it).
What
are the chances of this screwing up the PCR-1000?

Thanks for any info you can give me.
