I might also recommend Signal Intelligence ScanStar software.  They have
just rev'd their ScanStar software to include UT-106 functionality.
They really have made some progress toward better utilization of PCR1000
functionality.  In addition:  Microsoft no longer supports Windows 95.
At the close of next year, Microsoft will discontinue Windows 98
support.  Like it or not, times are changing; for the better ?  Highly
questionable.  As the CYA phrase goes: " Use at your own risk ".

I also use the home version of XP and fortunately have not had any
problems at all with the ICOM software. Did you try TalkPCR ? It has all
the features of the ICOM package and much more.

I have tried and retried the "fix" discussed on this list to make the
original ICOM software work under my "Home Version" of Windows XP with

luck, I still get the APPLICATION ERROR - PCR1000 caused a General
Protection Fault in module OLE2DISP.DLL at 0001:0B20?.  I have replaced
the
TOOLBARSHOW=1 with TOOLBARSHOW=0 to no avail.  I have tried deleting the
line entirely, still the same results.

I really don't mind the ICOM software for how I use the radio but unless
someone has some other ideas that I can try, it appears to be the end of
a
era here.  I simply cannot execute the program under XP.
