[PCR-1000] Windows XP (Again Please)

Folks,
Some time ago there was a lot of discussion about making the Icom software
work with Windows XP.  I have just acquired a new computer and didn't save
all the thread as I thought my old Windows 95 machine would last forever
but it "bit the dust" - would someone be kind enough to provide the
information about how to get configure XP so that a general protection
fault does not occur?  I would sure appreciate it and I am sorry I didn't
save each and every piece of that thread.
