I agree with Jens.

If anyone wants a down-converter circuit, I will see if I can find one
and send it on. There are also boards for decoding the cellular signals
- but very expensive.

Hi,

I do not think it's possible to increase the frequency-coverage of the
PCR1000. I know that there are some radios capable of handling larger
ranges. The only way for a PCR-owner is to use a frequency-converter.
An increase in frequency-coverage would be fun, since there are
weather-satellites etc at about 2GHz.
Having coverage up to 9GHz, as mentioned on the list some time ago,
would
not be practical. It's much more sensitive to mount connectors etc on
these
frequencies and the coaxial-cables are also much more sensitive to
handle
and install. This would be very hard for normal amateurs to handle.
Take a look at normal house-electronics, satellite reception is made
with
LNBs - ie frequency down converters. I think this is the best way for
the
normal user to increase the frequency range.

hey folks...

my serial number is greater than 03600, but i have the
800 MHz range (full covering 10kHz up to 1300 MHz).
its the european version of the pcr1000.

this says (i think) that it MUST be possible to modify
the pcr 1000 in any version to receive this
frequency's...

are there any tricks to get the frequencies over
1300MHz? i know of some handheld amateur radios that
are possible to be modified to receive up to 2GHz.
(f.e. q7e if remember right)

best wishes,
marcus
