[PCR-1000] PCR-1000 & DSP

Thanks for this perspective, an important consideration. I have not yet
ventured into CW & PSK31 decoding as I am a fairly new user of the PCR-1000.
I have never owned a high quality reciever, and my other reciever is a Sony
7600G so I am still making comparisons, and learning about noise, antennas,
not to mention what all the various sounds on the airwaves are.

I also use a laptop with the PCR-1000 which makes for a nice portable
package that fits into a laptop case.

Iam not sure I understand your meaning when you say...

I presume you mean that I cannot use DSP software and decoding software
together, but I must use the IICOM DSP unit to do this.
If I may ask, what DSP software did you use?

To my last experience is CW & PSK31 decoding, the Icom DSP option is a must.
I tried to use some DSP software and it's ok but if you want to decode CW or
another digital mode it's impossible to use DSP AND this software. So this
option is very necessary. Of course another DSP box can be use but my
computer is a portable one and I prefer to minimize all boxes in my
suitcase.

I am considering adding the DSP option to the PCR-1000, however I have never
had the unit demonstrated, so I am wondering if it is a worthwhile addition.

I would also like to know if anyone has compared the ICOM DSP unit with
software DSP processing such as the Swezey Digital Filter which will process
audio coming into a soundcard.
