[PCR-1000] help with talkpcr

I finally managed to get the pcr1000 i wanted (low ser.# and dsp)  and 
ive known that Talkpcr is the software i wanted to use.  I'm running 
win2000 pro and when i open talkpcr (2.4) every thing appears to work ok 
until i click on banks under the channels tab.  then the controls go 
dead the radio is still receiving but i have no control of anything 
 clicking on anything does nothing!! i cant even close the program even 
when i use the task manager to close it it says the program is waiting 
for a response from me! (i then tell it to close it anyway)  oh yes! one 
other thing...when its locked up the arrow keys will make the radio 
shift up and down the channel list.  This stuff happens when its run in 
demo mode
as well!  i tried the newest ver.  "the beta" and it kinda does the same 
stuff but the banks menu comes up and wont go away. i also noticed that 
the band scope won't start displaying the bars till you change a value 
in one of the windows controls.

well there you have it!   can any of you talkpcr experts out there tell 
me whats going on???
I'm dying to get this working! i'll be hanging out on the computer with 
great anticipation!!
